MGPO Mission Statement

Mountain and Glacier Protection Organization (MGPO) is a social welfare, non-profit organization registered under the Social Welfare Agencies Ordinance 1961 (XLV of 1961). MGPO can operate anywhere in Pakistan including the Northern Areas of Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). MGPO is certified by the Pakistan Center for Philanthropy as a competent and reliable NGO.

MGPO works for the improvement in the quality of life of marginalized communities. MGPO interventions are based on creating robust linkages between man and nature to underscore this critical interdependency. MGPO strategies are linked with the Millennium Development Goals to reduce poverty and improve education and healthcare to ensure sustainable environment.

The strategic vision of the organization focuses on an integrated development plan in which the local communities play an integral role to conserve natural resources. Poverty alleviation, education and access to healthcare are therefore key factors that influence MGPO policies and programs. MGPO aims and objectives focus on bringing balance and harmony between man and nature so that both may prosper and thrive in tandem. The achievement of this goal is envisaged through interventions in the following areas:
